about us

Nat has been a New Yorker for 20+ years, Riki for 13. Together we’ve tackled the “city that never sleeps” for 10 years. We split our time between NYC, Upstate, NY and Fire Island. We have one son, our Pomeranian, Cashew.

We both work full time jobs, and while we have fantasies of setting it all aside to chase our dreams of traveling the world, it just isn’t realistic for us right now. We make the most of Riki’s generous vacation time and Nat’s ability to work remote, and aim to travel internationally at least twice a year. We supplement that travel with smaller domestic trips, and the equivalent of a time share in Fire Island, NY, every summer. Therefore, we always do feel we are trying to “get out of here,” even though we truly love our home city.

Some fun little stories

Once Riki led us on a hike rated “medium” difficulty. We had great confidence until it appeared to be taking double the time it should. When I looked at the hike information, I discovered she hadn’t looked at the elevation rating and we were climbing a small mountain! We finished the hike, although our Cole Haan “hiking boots” may have suffered a bit.

-Terceira Island, the Azores

After a couple hours of exploring, we came back to our dog friendly hotel room to find our dog inexplicably missing. After moments of panic, and fearing the worst, we learned the good intentioned staff had taken him after he had been barking. No note, no phone calls…we thought our pooch had been stolen!

-Montreal, Canada

One time, our flight was continually delayed. We were in the airport lounge and I discovered a huge work error. Normally the clock-watcher in our duo, I became immersed. All of a sudden, we realized the plane was boarding and we rushed to the gate. After 5 hours spent in the airport, sitting in the lounge, it was too late. The gate had closed 2 minutes prior and we missed our flight…while we were sitting in the lounge!

We hope this inspires you to get out, wherever you are.
